Scott County Economic Update to Be Held September 22 in Scottsburg

Dr. Uric Dufrene, Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Sanders Chair in Business, will discuss recent economic data and forecasts for Scott County and how national trends are affecting the region.

Get Inspired to Finish Your Degree at the College Comebacker Fair

The following is a press release from the Scott County Community Foundation:

Life happens. Sometimes obstacles prevent us or people we know from finishing our educational goals. If you or someone you know has started college but had to hit the pause button, you are invited to a College Comebacker Fair at the Mid-America Science Park. The event will be held Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Mid-America Science Park, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.

The College Comebacker Fair will take place in Scottsburg on Feb. 23.

Representatives will be on hand from Ivy Tech Community CollegeIndiana University SoutheastScott County Community FoundationScott County Partnership and WorkOne to share resources on how you can get back on track to finish your degree or certification. Meet with other adults and be inspired to go back to school. Refreshments will be served.

The College Comebacker Fair is a result of the Education Matters Southern Indiana initiative. Through this collaboration, the Scott County Community Foundation has partnered with the community foundations in Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Washington counties to increase the number of adults who have a degree or certification.

Another College Comebacker Fair will be held Thursday, Feb. 25 from 4-7 p.m. at Ivy Tech Community College’s Ogle Hall, Horseshoe Community Room, in Sellersburg, for those who cannot attend the Scott County fair.

Indiana University Southeast to Hold Open House in Scottsburg on Oct. 27

The City of Scottsburg and Mid-America Science Park have partnered with Indiana University Southeast to bring college courses to Scott County. Students in Scottsburg and surrounding areas like Seymour, Madison and Salem now have an opportunity to take classes closer to home to pursue an associate’s or bachelor’s degree from a four-year, public university.

IU Southeast will hold an Open House at the Mid-America Science Park on Tuesday, October 27, at 7 p.m. Prospective students are invited for a campus presentation and to speak with IU Southeast representatives about:
