Governor Pence Honors Scottsburg Building & Loan Association

The Scottsburg Building and Loan Association was officially chartered on August 8, 1889, making it the oldest financial institution in Scott County. The Association was formed to meet the need of providing financing for the building of homes in the growing Scott County area.

Today, Governor Mike Pence will honor their outstanding contribution to the economic growth and prosperity of Indiana and Scott County with the Governor’s Century Award.

As reported by Inside Indiana Business, Gov. Pence shared the following remarks, “I’m honored to recognize these Hoosier-grown businesses that have created a strong and lasting impact not only on their communities but on the state of Indiana as a whole. As our state continues to attract new companies, these well-established businesses will set the tone for a Hoosier economy dedicated to hard work, constant improvement and strong community roots. Their longevity is yet another example that Indiana is a state that works.”
